        KAYLEIGH'S STORY
Posted by Terry Tremethick on 2008/8/16 4:05:15 (111 reads)

After 3 months in to our pregnancy, Aimee and I received the bad news that our baby was not going to survive the pregnancy. We met with numerous Doctors who felt it was only a matter of time before she was going to die. We were told to live our life as normal as possible and there was nothing we could possibly do. One Doctor even said to go home and drink a glass of wine and to go exercise if we feel that would make us feel better. The Doctors seemed to be more concerned with our mental capacity on how we are going to handle the baby’s death. If we heard, “This is not your fault” one more time, we were going to go off the deep end.

I don’t think there was an illness that Kayleigh wasn’t diagnosed with. Our baby was diagnosed at very high risk of Down Syndrome, Spinabifida, other possible Chromosomal Abnormalities, Cardio Effusion, A hole in the heart, Liver and Bowel diseases, and Aimee had a partially torn placenta which prevented normal growth and the cause a handful of other issues. By the sounds of all that from a professional who sees these issues everyday, what could we do? If we didn’t have God in our lives to help our decisions, we would have terminated the pregnancy in a heart beat because this baby may not survive and if it does, it will live a horrible life. I couldn’t argue with a Doctor, someone with a superior level in the educational field, the highest paid care provider who is supposed do whatever it takes to save lives. They said there was nothing we could do. They were wrong!

Kayleigh Anne Freeman was born at 28 weeks, 10 inches long, weighing 470 grams (1 lb.1 oz). She has no chromosome abnormalities, no heart defects, no liver, no bowel and no other issue that will cause her to live a horrible life. What if I listened to the Doctors? What if I terminated the pregnancy?

I have put together a day by day blog to show everyone there is hope, there is a chance, and there is life. While Aimee and I were going through this roller coaster of emotions, we met some of the most wonderful people in the world. They helped us by sharing their miracle stories to show us that God is in charge and no matter what a Doctor tells you, God has a plan for your baby. Kayleigh has touched the lives of so many people and with her story; we want to continue to touch the lives of people that don’t know there is hope. If people don’t know we are out there to help, they may not fight to save the life of their baby. We would have given up if it weren’t for people who gave us hope and for God, who is in complete control, so now we are returning the favor to give you hope.

Please share and follow in the journey with us: www.KayleighAnneFreeman.blogspot.com

        God Bless

        Prayers

Please say a prayer for my grandson Mykal. He was born on June 6, 2008 at 30 weeks, weighing only 3lbs.. He was looking great for the first week, until they found he had PDA a heart issue, then the doctors said he had a brain bleed. This week he was great on Sunday morning by early afternoon the doctors and nurses had to revive him three times and he had to be put back on a full respirator. The doctors determined he had NEC which is basically an infection in his intestine. This has made him so sick he lost all his color, he went completely gray and he has been what they call modeling, his skin looks like his veins are webbing. He is losing weight and doesn't look like the same little boy we thought was ready to be transferred to our local hospital. He now has been in Boston's New England Medical Hospital for over two weeks and there is no sign of any bright light at this point. My heart is aching and my son is in Active Duty for the Army so we are all having it really rough. Please keep Mykal in your prayers.

will my heart ever beat again

        Poems

It may have been i was but too young myself
a young lady barely able to raise herself
soon to hold the task of raising a child
yet it was with joy i put this task before me
i read book, watched people as they cared for their kids
ohh how i wanted to be the perfect mom
each night i dreamed of seeing you run and play
of you running over into my arms
i would hold you with a heart of love
kiss away all the pain when you fell
forgive you when you make a mistake
show you the errors of my ways
so you can grow to a better person then me
        days soon turned to weeks
        weeks then to months
i felt you inside me grow
i felt the kicks,i felt you move
25 weeks passed till on one dark night
i drove you to the hospital alone tears to my eyes
thinking please not yet its too soon
but from me you were born
a small little girl barely 2 pounds
struggling to breathe and hold on
i cried when i heldyo in my arms
cried when the doctor had you in surgery
seven days past i sat by your side
and saw life from you leave
for me holding you forever was not meant to be
i prayed you would stay with me but they went unanswered
now i pray your are safe in heaven
maybe my parents are their holding you
till i can be their too
i pray your safe,i pray your happy
and each night i ask a selfish thing
will my heart ever beat again?

"Ready Or Not, Here I Come"
Posted by Terry Tremethick on 2008/7/15 21:42:56 (301 reads)

"Ready Or Not, Here I Come" by Hannah Piretti Keator is a delightful picture book about a preemie.  Born two months early Charlie Magooaloo is early everywhere she goes.  Sometimes it works out well for her, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it even gets her in BIG trouble!  At the end she learns a funny little lesson.  The story is whimsical and illustrations clever, it's sure to bring a smile to the faces of little ones.  There's clinical information at the end of the story about the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a special section where Charlie (in her own words) defines terms associated with preemies.  A great tool for parents to use with siblings to explain the mysteries and uncertainties of the NICU and preemies in general.  The author is a Mom of a preemie as well as a licensed independent clinical social worker in Massachusetts focusing on children and families.  If interested in ordering your own copy please contact Hannah Keator at Piretti14@aol.com.  Each hardcover book is $19.95 +tax and shipping and handling

        National Thanksgiving Day
Posted by Terry Tremethick on 2008/5/11 0:00:00 (160 reads)

        "May 7th, 2008

Samuel is in the local Penrith Press along with me for the National Day of Thanksgiving which falls on mothers day. See the article here.

Samuel is disabled because he was born at 28 weeks and suffered severe brain damage. As a result he is in a wheelchair and is profoundly delayed in his learning and will be reliant on 24 hour care for the rest of his life.

Here are some interest links you can read -

This is from http://wheelsforsam.com a site dedicated to help Sam raise money for a wheelchair converted vehicle.

        NEW Preemie Picture Website
Posted by Terry Tremethick on 2005/7/13 23:58:24 (4907 reads)

Due to all the problems eveyone had with the old gallery we have started a new website where you can create your own gallery easily. It was a big deal to find an appropriate package that was free. But we wanted to make it as easy as possible. The only hitch is that you will need to register again but it takes a few moments. Read the FAQ and you should be just fine.

All old albums are still fine to access and even put pictures in. It is just closed to new albums.
